Atmosphere, Ocean and Sea Ice

What if we could make predictions about the future climate even more accurately and much more quickly and efficiently?

Would we be able to better combat the causes of climate change and mitigate its consequences?

Could we make the effects of global warming clearly visible to everyone?

The HClimRep project has set itself the goal of answering precisely such questions. By building one of the first AI foundation models for climate research that combines data from the atmosphere, the ocean and sea ice, researchers are developing one of the most precise weather and climate models in the world. Thanks to extensive training on Europe’s first exascale computer, this deep learning model with several billion parameters will be able to perform complex „what-if“ experiments and other ocean and atmospheric modeling tasks.
